Root canal treatment provides life-saving treatment for a tooth with a severe infection. This can happen when it becomes seriously injured as a result of a knock or blow or due to a substantial cavity.
When a tooth is infected, the live tissues inside the tooth start to die. Root canal treatment addresses the infection by killing the harmful bacteria and sealing it with a filling. At a follow-up appointment, a crown is placed to strengthen it in the long term and to ensure it looks completely natural again (infections can cause teeth to darken in colour).
We have a specialist endodontist, Dr Steve Williams, at our practice, who has completed extensive training. With a specialist endodontist, you are in safe hands, as they have skill in dealing with highly complex cases requiring the restoration of infected teeth.
