Lightening a darkened tooth

Clean all your teeth thoroughly.
Your dentist will make an access cavity and seal over the root filling so we can whiten inside the tooth.
Clean out the cavity within the tooth with a small brush and use water in the syringe to irrigate; this will clear any food debris. Also, brush the outside of the teeth/tooth and floss as normal.
Dry the inside of the cavity with a cotton bud.

Preparing the tray for whitening

Using 10% gel, fill the whole tray if you are whitening all the teeth at once, or if you are concentrating on the darkened tooth, fill just the reservoir relating to that tooth.
Place the gel syringe at the bottom of the cavity within the tooth and fill it with gel. Then, place the prepared tray straight over your teeth.

You may need someone to help you the first few times, as it can be tricky to see what is happening. You can whiten more frequently daily for 2/3 hours at a time, as the darkened tooth has no nerve.

Hello,My 13 year old daughter had her first 2 teeth taken out by the dentist, Vignesh Mohan. She had never experienced anything like that and, I thought, it would be quite traumatic for her. This dentist surgery is all that a dentist should be. In my experience it runs efficiently, to time and I still have an NHS dentist there. The receptionists are friendly and helpful. The dentist, although he/she has changed over the years, has kept my teeth on track with a six monthly appointment. Rachel the hygienist is very thorough and I leave feeling well looked after.
